Congolese star musician, songwriter, guitarist, dancer, and producer Fally Ipupa was opportune to be the main performer at the opening ceremony of AFCON2021.
Even though the 44 years old Rumba composer grazed the stage with his usual specular moves which got the spectators on their feed, it wasn’t well-received by all Cameroonians.
Some People expected big names on stage like Salatiel, Daphne, Maalox Mr. Leo among many who have international collabos and are widely recognized but were sad when no Cameroonian mounted the stage.
This has brought up questions like “is it that Fally is bigger than the entire Cameroon industry? Or President of Fecafoot benefited from Fally Ipupa two days concert in Cameroon”?
Other critics believed Fally deserved the position in the AFCON but he would have been on the sideline with a Cameroonian to balance the equation.
Comedian, critic, CY International who is widely known to defend the culture of Cameroon, this time around defended Fally Ipupa by saying “in 2017 in Gabon, a Cameroonian Franko Sang “Coller la petite” was he a Gabonese?” he added Africa is one and any Artist can perform anywhere. Many are taken aback as Cy goes against his 80% Cameroon content and 20% foreign content motto.
It is worth noting that Fally Ipupa is a friend who turned to Samuel Eto’o as they were spotted seated together in the AFCON launch. Also, the Fecafoot boss visited Ipupa in his home to give him a private invitation to come to perform at AFCON2021.
