Bamenda-based Elite One Club, Young Sport Academy, YOSA has been shifted to the relegation zone after being beaten 1-0 by Canon Sportif of Yaoundé.
The game which played on June 20, 2022; day 23 of Elite one Championship had its lone goal from Canon’s midfielder, Alfred Meyong at the 39th minute of first half.
The victorious goal made Canon’s Trainer, Minkreo Birwe to adopt a defensive approach which lasted though out playtime to their favour.
The defeat leaves YOSA on 26 points after 23 games this season.
Young Star Academy sits five points ahead of the main relegation battling rivals, Panthere of Nde.
The June 20 defeat entails that the Yellow Submarines must pick a point in their final game against relegated Tonnere of Yaounde.
The team managed by Interim Trainer, Ndikum Blaise could still avoid relegation, depending on panther’s performance in their last two games.
The West region club will face AS Fortuna and Apejes of Mfou in their final games.
Panthere of Nde’s failure to win any of the two games will see Yong Sports Academy automatically avoiding relegation to second tier
Yong Sports Academy who is already battling to avoid its first-ever relegation to second tier since the teams were promoted to the top flight at the end of the 2007/2008 Elite Two campaign.
Moreover, Monday’s win of Canon saw the club boosting their chances of qualifying for the title play-off from pool A.
