Cameroon’s Football Federation President Samuel Eto’o have criticized national team players despite their one-nil win against Burundi in the ongoing AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
According to the FECAFOOT boss, the players are not ready for the World Cup. This is owing to what Eto’o qualifies as a sluggish encounter against Burundi Thursday, June 9, 2022.
In a videotape currently circulating on social media, Eto’o said, during his day as a player he did not win the world cup. this was owing to some problems that the former football striker is now bent on addressing as an administrator
While criticising the lack of team spirit in the squad, he said, ones’ a player puts on the Cameroon Jersey, he is playing for the nation, not for himself.
He added that the is nothing greater than playing for one’s country.
Samuel Eto’o reminded the players of the necessity to always represent their country with much display of patriotism and pride.
The former Barcelona star said, if the rating is about their performance against Burundi, then none of the players is fit to be on the list for the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
“If you want to be part of this squad, you must work. If it’s about what I saw out there today, I’m not sure any of you will be on the list. I need more because I dream to win the World Cup. All the problems I had as a player won’t repeat resolved,” Eto’o said.
“When this group will be happy together”, victory will follow. we will win.
The football legend prescribes teamwork and patriotism as ingredients required for progress in Qatar 2022
Despite the unconvincing outing against Burundi, the one-nil win was enough to put the Lions at the top of their group.
