Despite having qualified for the knockout stage in the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroonians are still worried about the faith of the Indomitable Lions stopper André Onana whom they fear might be replaced for his inability to maintain a goalless game.

Onana who returned to the football scenes after facing 9 months banned for doping allegations, is once again on the lips of Cameroonian.

A cross-section of fans has tabled their worries with some reiterating the fact Andre is unserious as he is always out of his goal post. According to the Lions’ fan whose name is not said thinks “Onana is not steady because he does not have anyone to compete with”

The only competitor of Onana was Fabrice Ondoua who was amongst the squad that lifted the 2017 AFCON trophy in Gabon. He has been remarkable but wasn’t called up because for a year now, he hasn’t been signed to any club as compared to Onana who resumed his suspension in Amsterdam club, Ajax.

These numerous complaints levied on the Cameroon first choice doorman couldn’t stay just on the streets as a journalist questioned his performance post-match Cameroon VS, Cape Verde. Onana however responded by agreeing he hasn’t been living up to expectations but will do his best

“I can’t refuse I have not been making mistakes, my hands are not totally clean concerning this worries but I promise I will make things better” Goal keeper Andre Onana said “We didn’t want any team to score us throughout this group stage, but the important thing is we won. We will continue to work on our defense so the goals will be scored again”

It is worth noting André has signed a 5 years contract with the Italian club Inter Milan which starts this new season.

Since the start of the AFCON, he has conceived 3 goals so far in three matches.

What are your thoughts about Onana’s Performance so far? Will he do better? Or different keepers should be tested? Drop your thoughts in our comment box.
