Human rights activist, Barrister Felix Nkongho Agbor Balla has criticised Cameroon Football Federation’s President, Samuel Eto’o for excluding Anglophones in a recent appointment of 6 French-speaking members of the FECAFOOT committee.
In a plenary that held at the Limbe Marcsons Hotel, February 16, a new committee was created for the management of the country’s football activities.
Samuel Eto’o Fils has so far appointed six committee members, all being Francophones.
Many think it is eminent that Anglophones’ Marginalization is being extended to the FECAFOOT governing body.
Human rights activist, Barrister Agbor Balla decried the marginalization as he found no Anglophone featuring among the 6 newly appointed FECAFOOT committee members.
He took to his official Facebook page to express his discontentment.
“I just read the Press Release of the resolutions adopted at the Ordinary Session of the Executive Committee held in Limbe. While acknowledging the fact that it was a good initiative to hold the meeting in Limbe, I noticed that of ALL the members confirmed and approved for recruitment, Non is an ANGLOPHONE. These are clear marginalization of Anglophones”
The Barrister called on Samuel Etoo to include Anglophones in the 4 remaining posts in his government, if not, his claim is evident.
“I hope that with the mandate given to the President of FECAFOOT to proceed with the recruitment of four (4) other executives within the Federation; he will appoint Anglophones,” the legal mind said.
“This is a major setback for the Eto’o-led Football Federation. We should not be blinded by “Etomania”. I am a fan of Eto’o, but I will equally condemn any acts of marginalization and discrimination against Anglophones,’ he revealed.
Below are the 6 FECAFOOT members that have already been appointed.
• Mr. Benjamin Didier BANLOCK, Secretary General of FECAFOOT;
• Mr. DJITTA, Interim Financial Administrative Director;
• Mr. HAPPI SOHO FANGUEN Franck Hilaire, Director of Football
Development of FECAFOOT;
• Mr. DJOUNANG Blaise, Head of the Legal Affairs Department of
FECAFOOT;
• Mr. LOE Camille Jean Luc, Director of Cabinet of the President of
FECAFOOT;
• Mr. MABOANG KESSACK Emmanuel, Chargé de Mission of FECAFOOT.
It is left to be seen if the FECAFOOT boss will yield to calls to insure the remaining four of his 10-man committee be Anglophones.
