The Bank Account of former Chief Justice Ayah Paul Abine remains frozen 29 months after he went on retirement after serving the state for years.
Hon. Ayah revealed coupled with his account being frozen for this length of time, he hasn’t received his pension for 69 months after his retirement.
According to reports from Cameroon News Agency the Honorable is being punished by the state for having a contrary view from the ruling party.
Paul Abine Ayah was a member of the National Assembly of Cameroon and a member of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement. Until recently, he joined the Opposition Party called the Peoples Action Party (PAP). In August 2007 he was elected as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Cameroon.
On 3 January 2011, Ayah Paul resigned from the CPDM and stood for the presidential elections. He was later appointed as a sitting judge at the supreme court of Cameroon.
The 72 years old was arrested on 21 January 2017 for advocating Cameroon should return to the federal system Like in the 1960s. Ayah Paul was released from prison by a presidential decree on 30 August 2017 after spending more than eight months in detention in Yaounde prison.
