Cameroon’s Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga has cautioned nationals to control their expenses, revealing that prices of some basic commodities have drastically risen.
Minister Atangana officially acknowledged the increase in prices of some commodities during a press conference in Yaoundé, recently.
According to the trade boss, the reason for the upward shift in prices is an ongoing Russia-Ukraine war which is affecting the world’s economy.
Prices of food stuff such as wheat, flour and maize have soared, making the cost of living to be high.
The Minister warned that if care is not taken, these prices will skyrocket more in the near future.
It is on this note that Minister Luc Magloire Atangana Mbarga called on Cameroonians to curb excessive spendings in order to meet up with the unpromising future.
However, the 67-years-old said President Paul Biya has ordered that prices of daily used products like cooking gas and fuel should remain unchanged.
