Barely four days to the start of the total energy Africa Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameroon, a key member of the Ivorian squad has been in tears after bad news from his family reached him in camp.
Max Alain Gradel burst in tears upon receiving shocking information about the demise of his father hours after the Elephants of Côte D’Ivoire arrived Cameroon to commence the their long journey to the AFCON.
Despite much consolation from his teammates, the football superstar wept uncontrollably when the news of his father’s death got into his ears this Wednesday January 05, 2022.
“Papa I told you I am going to the AFCON. I arrived just to be called you’re no more,” he bemoaned.
This is actually a hard moment to Max Alain as he also has a heavy task with the Elephants to see that they get their 3rd AFCON title in Cameroon.
The cause of Hotété Bruno’s death remains unknown as he was never diagnosed of any illness prior to his passing.
Gradel left his father at the age of 9 when he joined his mother in France where he later chosed a career path in football.
The Ivorian media reported on Wednesday that Max reunited with his father not long ago and hoped to spend quality time with him when he wraps off his AFCON assignment in Cameroon.
