Some victims of a Stampede at the Yaounde Olembé Stadium have cried out over their deteriorating situation in hospital owing to abandonment by officials.

Contrary to how smooth things were shown on the media about the constant visits of the Minister of Sports and the President of FECAFOOT to hospitals hosting the victims, some allegedly say they are neglected and their conditions are getting worst.

A person who also suffered the effects of the incident revealed that he was transported in a comatose state to hospital.

After the arrival of CAF’s representatives, they allegedly denied responsibility, claiming it was that of the Cameroonian government.

According to them, Cameroon had to settle the bills and compensate the victim’s father than just providing them food.

The victim further complained that the money they were left with was not enough to take care of their bills.

They went to the Ministry of Sports, but could not have access to the Minister.

“After we left the hospital, the sum of money was not enough to pay for the various prescriptions.  On Tuesday we were informed that the money to compensate us was at the Ministry of Sports, we went there but they told us that the money was at the Ministry of Health. Once we got there, they barred us from meeting the minister.”

The victim equivocally revealed that her family relatives have refused to come close to her because her interview with CRTV while in the hospital says, she was given money, whereas the money finally did not enter their hands.

“I am stressed out and my situation continues worsening.  What hurts me the most are the phone calls every day from my acquaintances who keep saying that I have money because, from my bed, in the hospital, I had granted an interview with CRTV and my image had been relayed in all the media; indicating that the support had been made while we received nothing; I have nothing.”

It should be recalled that 8 people were recorded dead while 40 others suffered severe injuries at the Olembé stampede.

Will the Minister of sports and FECAFOOT boss meet the aspiration of the victims?
