Islantis Leku, 31, a teacher working in Noun Division, Cameroon’s West region has been killed.
According to information gathered from local sources, the 31-year-old was attacked and killed by gunmen suspected to be separatist fighters on Monday, March 28 in the Lebialem Division, South West region.
In a video circulating online that TWIF NEWS received, the deceased travelled to Magha, his native village in the Lebialem Division for the death celebration of his grandmother.
“My husband was sleeping in the sofa, after a very stressful day from the death celebration, while I was in the kitchen. I later heard noise from the house and wanted to go and check, but some gunmen blocked me from entering. One of them later came and said they have killed my husband. I ran behind the compound and saw him lying in the pull of his blood…,” The deceased’s wife narrated
We also gathered that five others including the deceased’s father were kidnapped and taken to unknown locations by the armed men.
We could not immediately get the exact cause of the act. However, teachers have been a target since the eruption of the Anglophone crisis in 2016, with many killed and others kidnapped for ransoms.
