Some women from the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration center, DDR Bamenda have defeated their counterparts of the Solidarity Women in a friendly handball game.
This was on Friday March 5, during the launching ceremony of the International Women’s Day in the North West region.
The women from DDR center defeated the Solidarity Women by 19-14 in the handball game, which took place at the military field, Up Station.
This was part among the numerous activities that were organized across the region to kickstart the 37th edition of International Women’s Day that is to be commemorated on March 8.
Speaking at the event, Wirba Hassan, Regional Delegate of Women Empowerment in the North West region said they are satisfied with the preparations.
He said the turnout is a sign that things are gradually returning to normal in the region.
“If our women can start participating in various activities as they used to do before 2015, then we think that it will go a long way to bring life to normalcy,” Wirba Hassan said
Kum Henry, Coordination of the Bamenda DDR center also added that the activity was to show a good image of the Ex-combatants.
