The Divisional Officer for Ndu subdivision in Donga Mantung Division in the North West region has warned that some forests serving as separatist hideouts be cleared.

In a press release signed by Adamu Shuaibu Ibrahim, Divisional Officer for Ndu subdivision on January 13, he demanded some forest owners like the Cameroon Baptist Convention, in and around GS Singwa and others to clear the forests within a period of two weeks.

According to DO Adamu Shuaibu, these forests have been serving as separatist hideouts for more than four years.

“That the above forests should be cleared within a period of two weeks from the date of signature of this decision. Failure of which appropriate legal measures shall be meted on the owners of the forests listed in this decision who will be charged for aiding and abetting terrorism,” a section of the press release states

The DO has commissioned the Mayor of Ndu council, the Brigade Commander and other law enforcements to strictly implement the order and monitor it.

DO Adamu Shuaibu Ibrahim is one amongst the many administrative authorities in the restive North West region who have fighting against separatist fighters for long.

In December 2021, Adamu Shuaibu shut down two markets, Ntamru market and Ndundip market, after he suspected that they were separatist’s assembly grounds.
