PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe has agreed on a contract with Real Madrid, but the transfer is not concluded, according to a report from The Athletic.
It is stated that although the 23-year-old has reached an accord with the Spanish side, no deal has yet been signed with the Bernabeu club.
Mbappe is heading towards free agency at the end of June and has been free to discuss terms with potential suitors since the beginning of January.
Real Madrid has long coveted the forward since last summer and €200 million was ignored by PSG sporting director Leonardo, who held out hope at that point that Mbappe might eventually sign a new deal with the French club.
Despite persistent noises from the Spanish press, the party line has consistently been that he will announce his future at the end of the season, which concludes after PSG’s home match with Metz on Saturday.
Previous statements that a deal was done came from the Spanish media and carried less weight than this report, with The Athletic being a more reputable source of transfer news.
Indeed, this is perhaps the greatest indication yet that Mbappe will play his football at Real Madrid next season and, therefore, complete his childhood dream of turning out in the white of the Bernabeu club.
